California Assembly Bill (AB) 1565 is a new law that went into effect on January 1, 2014. This law requires a school district with over 2,500 students to pre-qualify bidders (General and M/E/P subcontractors) for construction contracts awarded on or after January 1, 2014 if the total project value is $1,000,000 or more,and if the project is funded, in whole or in part, with State bond funds. In accordance with AB 1565, NUSD will utilize a pre-qualification process. Bidders may pre-qualify with WUSD by applying online.
Projects under $1,000,000 can prequalify using the California Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting Act process. When applying for one form of prequalification, a contractor is not automatically applying for the additional process. Please be sure to apply for both prequalifying processes if your firm would like to be considered for projects both large and small.
