How old does my child need to be?
Children who will have their 5th birthday on or before September 1, 2017 are eligible to register for kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year.

*Please note that with recent passage of the Kindergarten Readiness Act, eligibility for admission to Kindergarten changes so that a child's 5th birthday must occur on or before September 1, 2017 in order to enroll in Kindergarten. The district is offering a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program for students whose 5th birthday falls between September 2nd and December 2nd.

When should I register my kindergartener?
Kindergarten registration is held in February for the upcoming school year. Children are placed at their home school according to when their registration is received, and children registered early are less likely to be moved to other schools because their neighborhood school is full. Schools will continue to accept kindergarten registration after February during regular school office hours.

Where should I register?
Please register your child at his/her neighborhood school. See a list of schools below or use our school locator.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring the following documents to register your child in school.  You will not be able to register your child unless his/her immunizations are up to date.  Immunizations can be provided by a family doctor.

  • Child's Birth Certificate
  • Child's Immunization Records
  • Copy of current PG&E Bill or Address Verification
  • Proof of Physical (must be dated after Aug 2016)
  • Verification of oral Assessment (dental check up)
