card header iconSubstitute Job Openings

Certificated and classified substitute job openings are posted on EdJoin and must be submitted online. All applications must be received via EdJoin prior to the closing date and time of the posted vacancy.  Once your application has been reviewed and a determination is made that requirements have been met, the Human Resources Department will contact you and schedule an appointment to pick up a substitute employment packet.

Certificated substitutes must meet several requirements before applications are accepted. Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Passing CBEST scores
  • Teaching credential
  • Classroom experience

The Washington Unified School District has approved the STEDI Substitute Teacher Training Course. This course will help aid new substitute teachers with the transition into a classroom. This training can also be used by current substitutes as a refresher.  This is an employee paid 8-10 hour online course that can be completed at your convenience. With the completion of this course, not only will you gain insight of the classroom environment, you will be eligible to receive the additional approved $5.00 pay per day.  Please visit www.stedi.org.
 
Once you receive your certificate of completion, please submit a PDF copy of your certificate in to Aileen Flores at aflores@wusd.k12.ca.us for processing.

Washington Unified School District has switched to Absence Management (formerly known as AESOP) for substitute placement and absence management. We are excited about this change and the new opportunities in subcalling that this new system allows. Absence Management is a user friendly, web-based program that has many exciting features. Absence Management is available on the web, phone and a smart phone application called the Jobulator to assist substitutes in searching for available jobs.  The phone number employees can use to report an absence is 800-942-3767.
