The concept behind Parent University developed out of family needs to navigate the educational system. These meetings help parents become advocates for their students education through periodic training offered at their child's school site.
This year we had three events:
Kevin Bracy, an international motivational speaker, spoke to parents about how they can support their children through school and all the social situations that they find themselves in. (see dates below)
Each site will offered a parent's guide to the new Common Core standards and how they can help with homework and projects. Dates to be announced.
In May each site offered a parent night on transitioning to certain grade levels, what is expected at the next grade up, and what types of support will be needed.
