fingers pointing on a map
Washington Unified (WUSD) is partnering with Performance Fact to develop and implement a new equity-centered strategic plan that will be the District's guide for the next five years (2021-2026).

The new Strategic Plan will build upon the previous plan's successes and be aligned with the District’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). The goal is to reinforce the strengths of our school system while recalibrating our vision to address the most promising opportunities to enhance our work. Parents, students, staff, and community partners have been invited to contribute to this process through meetings, focus groups, and surveys.

Washington Unified (WUSD) invites you to participate in a Strategic Planning Community Forum to help create a shared vision for the future of WUSD schools. The Community Forum will be facilitated by Performance Fact via Zoom in English on Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The same session will be presented entirely in Spanish on Monday, April 4, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

Participation is open to all staff members, parents, students, community leaders, and other interested members of the West Sacramento community interested in contributing their thoughts, ideas, and hopes for the future of our students.

During the meeting, we will be discussing and sharing thoughts about a shared vision for WUSD schools, discussing the district's strengths, the challenges that we face, and ways in which we can resolve those challenges.
About the process

About the process

The first phase for developing the new strategic plan is the Planning Phase which covers the period from September 2021 to June 2022 and focuses on community-wide engagement. The primary goal of the Planning Phase is to proactively seek out and embrace the diverse voices of WUSD’s stakeholders to achieve a mutual understanding of our common goals for students.

Performance Fact's strategic planning process utilizes a series of stakeholder teams to guide the development of a strategic alignment plan that embraces the community’s diverse voices. Each school system defines its relevant stakeholders, mindful of the paramount importance of broad-based, equitable representation within and across stakeholder groups.
A Core Planning Team (CPT), comprised of representatives of all relevant stakeholder-groups works closely with the Performance Fact team to ensure that the process and outcomes of the strategic planning process are responsive to local needs and realities. The Core Planning Team serves as an “integrator” of all input from all participants; it provides a “reality check” throughout all phases of the planning exercise.

A primary purpose of planning is to facilitate unity of purpose or alignment. Alignment is the process of reaching a mutual understanding of common goals. It gives shared meaning to the work of the school or school district, thereby enabling the successful accomplishment of the goals of the organization. To be effective, the alignment process must proactively seek out and embrace the diverse voices of the organization's diverse stakeholders. If we want all stakeholders to be committed to and be meaningfully engaged in the implementation of the plan, it is wise to involve each stakeholder in the development of the plan itself.
