2021-2022 school year

2021-2022 school year

School starts for most Washington Unified School District (WUSD) students on Wednesday, August 11th.  Washington Middle College High School (WMCHS) begins on August 16th.

Superintendent Cheryl Hildreth wrote a welcome back message to the community highlighting the District’s focus as the fall semester begins fully in-person, five days a week, with a traditional learning model. In addition, the NEW Virtual Academy is also launching this year as an alternative program of choice to support students searching for a solution outside of in-person learning.

WUSD created a Back to School Family Guide (Spanish translation) mapping out its commitment to the entire community’s health, safety, and well-being. This guide provides the latest information, health guidelines, and expectations to begin the new school year.

Additionally, WUSD is dedicated to the social-emotional well-being of our students and school community and offers a variety of grade-level resources for students and families to help students achieve their full potential.

District teams are currently developing a comprehensive Student Success and Support Plan to reinforce student learning throughout this school year, outlining the many layers of systematic support to ensure we move forward together. This plan will be shared with families and staff upon completion in the coming weeks.

The district will continue providing weekly updates on Mondays to all staff and families.
