Open Enrollment for Universal TK, Kinder & Preschool Registration 2022-2023

Families can now enroll in Washington Unified (WUSD) schools through open enrollment for Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK), Kindergarten, and Preschool Registration for the 2022-2023 school year.

UTK and Kindergarten registration can be done entirely online. 
 
  • UTK Eligibility: 5th birthday falls on or between Sept. 2, 2022 - Feb. 2, 2023.
  • Kindergarten Eligibility:  5th birthday falls on or before September 1, 2022
 
Preschool registration requires some additional steps. Get started at bit.ly/FREEpreschool.
 
  • Preschool Eligibility: 3rd or 4th birthday falls on or before December 1st, 2022.
 
If you choose to submit your application in person, staff will be available at WUSD District Office Multipurpose (930 Westacre Road, West Sacramento) on January 29th from 9 am to 12 pm. Families who submit registration packets in-person must follow all COVID-19 safety protocols.
To register, families need to provide a copy of their child’s Birth Certificate, Immunization Record, and Proof of Address (Utility bill, mortgage statement).

Preschool

WUSD offers a free preschool program serving children who reside in West Sacramento. The program is offered Monday to Friday for three hours a day with a morning and afternoon session. Your child is eligible for preschool if their 3rd or 4th birthday falls on or before December 1st, 2022.

In person assistance at the school site will be available Saturday, January 29th between 9am - 12pm. You must provide all registration documents required in order to complete and submit the registration. You will not be able to register with missing documents. 

Kindergarten

Your child is eligible for Kindergarten if their 5th birthday falls on or before September 1st, 2022.

Universal TK (UTK)

The WUSD Universal Transition Kindergarten (UTK) program serves as a bridge between preschool and traditional kindergarten, offering age and developmentally appropriate curriculum for our youngest students. You child is eligible for UTK if their 5th birthday falls on or between Sept. 2, 2022 - Feb. 2, 2023. Learn more about the program.

Spanish Dual Immersion

WUSD offers an award-winning Dual Immersion program available to NEW Kindergarden enrollments. Learn more about Spanish Dual Immersion program.
 
To Apply for Spanish Dual Immersion Kindergarten:
  1. Register student with WUSD CLICK HERE TO REGISTER WITH WUSD ONLINE
  2. Select "Elkhorn Village" as your home school.
  3. Select "Dual Immersion Program" from the Supplemental Questions list.
  4. Once you have completed WUSD Registration, then complete the Dual Immersion Application. CLICK HERE TO COMPLETE DUAL IMMERSION APPLICATION ONLINE.
  5. Elkhorn Village staff will contact you directly.

Washington Middle College HS

Washington Middle College High School (WMCHS) is a high school that offers a combination of high school and college courses as its curricular program through a process called “dual enrollment." Learn more about WMCHS.
 
Enrollment in WMCHS is limited. To begin, please submit an Enrollment Request HERE before registering online.

Virtual Academy (WUVA)

Washington Unified Virtual Academy (WUVA) provides online learning options for all students in grades K-12 to achieve their potential and acquire the skills necessary for College and Career Readiness. 

To register enroll in WUVA, contact the school staff to receive and complete an entrance form prior to registering your student using the Aeries Online Enrollnment Portal.  Call WUVA at 916-375-7680.

Supplemental Resources - Families may be asked to complete these documents at a later time.
Find Your School - You will need to register at your neighborhood school.  You must have a valid address with the Washington Unified School District (WUSD). To find your neighborhood school, use the school locater map.
 
Transfer Requests - If your address is outside WUSD boundaries you will need to request a transfer permit. Go to our weblink to Transfer Request or contact Student Services.
 
In-Person Registration Support - In-person registration support is available at your neighborhood school. Please call the school prior to going to the school.
