Transitional Kindergarten
The Transitional Kindergarten Program will serve as a bridge
between preschool and traditional kindergarten, offering age and
developmentally appropriate curriculum for our youngest students.
Transitional Kindergarten is the first year of a two year kinder program
designed to give students additional time to develop stronger academic,
social, and emotional skills necessary for future success. The classes
are taught by credentialed teachers to promote a strong foundation for
the student.
Transitional Kindergarten is an optional program and is offered free of charge to age-eligible children.
The
Kindergarten Readiness Act of 2010 requires all California school
districts to begin offering a Transitional Kindergarten program starting
the 2012-2013 school year. The law also moves the eligibility dates for
both kindergarten and transitional kindergarten.
