The Washington Unified School District (WUSD) is pleased to share that on February 4 and February 24, 2026, the District and the California School Employees Association (CSEA) Riverview Chapter 168 met to begin the 2026 collective bargaining cycle and reached a tentative agreement on two contract articles. Below are some highlights:

Article 12: Promotions

The agreement provides additional probationary time for employees moving into a promotional position, allowing them meaningful time to demonstrate success and receive appropriate support in their new role. Importantly, the agreement preserves all previously earned rights in the employee’s former position, ensuring staff are not penalized for pursuing advancement opportunities.

Article14: Duty Hours

The agreement clearly outlines expectations and procedures for summer school employment, including how current employees are offered and assigned summer work. This provides clarity, consistency, and transparency in the summer school selection process moving forward.

A heartfelt thank you to all bargaining team members for their hard work, collaboration, and dedication. The two teams will meet again on March 16, 2026, to continue negotiations on Article 11: Leaves and begin negotiating Article 18: Salary and Compensation and Article 19: Unit Member Benefits.
