At-Home Antigen Rapid Tests

Washington Unified (WUSD) staff have been working closely with YCOE and CDPH to procure rapid antigen test kits and ensure they are transported directly to each WUSD school site as quickly as possible. The rapid test kits are available for all symptomatic and exposed staff and students upon request.

Each kit contains two (2) rapid tests and comes with instructions on how to use the test kits and submit results. Individuals are asked to report positive and negative results.

Testing Instructions for students and staff

STEP 1:

Your school district has received free COVID-19 rapid test kits from the California Department of Public Health. Each box contains two tests. We recommend that you test your child (or yourself if staff) immediately and then again in 24-48 hours if symptoms persist or worsen.

  • If your child (or yourself if staff) gets sick with COVID-19 symptoms, have them stay home and use your tests to determine whether it is a COVID-19 infection.
  • If your child (or yourself if staff) is exposed to someone with COVID-19, have them stay home (if not up-to-date with vaccination) and use your tests a few days later.

Please FIRST read all instructions provided with the kits and watch the video below for your designated test before you test.

STEP 2:

  • If your results are POSITIVE, stay home from school. Contact your healthcare provider and notify your school. You should isolate the positive individual for the required or recommended current isolation timeframe.
  • If your results are NEGATIVE and your child (or yourself) feels well, they can return to school.
  • If your child (or yourself if staff) has any COVID-19 symptoms or has been in contact with someone with COVID-19, please call your school before you return – even if the test is negative. More testing may be needed.
