About

The new WUSD Strategic Plan aims to establish a stronger sense of transparency and community involvement district-wide. With a leadership philosophy deeply rooted in these elements, former Superintendent Linda C. Luna together with the Board of Trustees convened a series of sixteen Community Forums in 2016-17 highlighting the current state of the district as well the district’s road map for future success.

To reach the majority of our community, former Superintendent Luna recruited each school site’s cooperation in hosting both a morning and evening forum in order to accommodate student, parent, and community member schedules. The forums were part of a regularly scheduled principal’s coffee and PTO/PTA/PTSA meetings but also open to any member of the community wishing to learn more about the WUSD.

In the 2017-18 school year, former Superintendent Luna continued this momentum by bringing her entire Cabinet team to regularly scheduled principal coffees. This opportunity allows for executive leadership to become more familiar with each individual school community, building trust, and understanding for the amazing work being done in the WUSD.

As with many of our outreach initiatives, this too was a new concept for the WUSD but one that has undoubtedly promoted awareness for our schools and continues to increase community involvement.
