Transfer Request Information and Forms
What is an Intra & Inter-District Transfer?
- INTRA-District Transfer refers to currently enrolled WUSD students or students who live in West Sacramento who would like to transfer to a WUSD school other than the one assigned to their home address. Use the school locator map to find the neighborhood school. Click the tab below for more information and the link to complete the form.
- INTER-District Transfer is used when families wish to enroll their student(s) in a school district other than the one assigned to their home address. This applies to students who are trying to transfer OUT of the Washington Unified School District (WUSD). Click on the tab below for more information and the link to complete the form.
Intra-District Transfer (MOVING WITHIN WUSD)
To begin the Intra-District Transfer process to transfer your student from one school to another school within WUSD, download and complete an Intra-District Transfer Request Form
Depending on the case, transfers will be approved and processed on a semester or trimester basis. In the meantime, keep or enroll your child at their residence school.
- All parents/guardian requesting an intradistrict transfer must first enroll their child at their school of residence. Once enrolled, parents or guardians may apply for an intradistrict transfer. Parents/guardians are required to complete an Intradistrict Form to indicate their intention to transfer their student to a different school within the district.
- Intradistrict Transfer Request application priority will be given to students based on the following criteria: (a) the student has a sibling at that school, (b) students whose parent/legal guardian is assigned to that school as his/her primary place of employment.
- For NEW or RETURNING students to WUSD, the transfer request must include the student's current grades, attendance, and discipline records from their previous school.
- Parents/guardians who submit applications will be considered based on available space and the date of application. (First-come, first-served basis). If no space is available, the student is placed on a waiting list. Transfers are granted as space becomes available up until the end of the school year, semester, or trimester. No transfer will be accepted or approved after the end of the school year, semester, or trimester. If your transfer was not granted due to a lack of space, parents may submit a new transfer application for the upcoming school year.
- Parents/guardians will be notified by telephone, email, or mail when the transfer is granted or denied.
- Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to get their student to the requested school.
- No student currently residing within a school's attendance area shall be displaced by an intradistrict transfer student. (EC 35160.5)
Inter-District Transfer (COMING TO WUSD)
